Through its engagement in supporting the implementation of the SSF Guidelines and experience with similar processes (e.g. Voluntary Guidelines for the Responsible Governance of Tenure of Land, Fisheries and Forests and Right to Food Guidelines), FAO has a good overview of the many attempts for putting the SSF Guidelines into practice. The paper will summarize key implementation approaches from different stakeholders, and related challenges and opportunities. A key question will be to reflect over which of the approaches taken that seems promising in delivering results that will change the operating conditions for small-scale fishers.
