My research focuses on understanding how better data can lead to improved food systems and livelihoods in aquatic systems. I develop and test digital reporting systems and automatic analytics to obtain reliable near-real time data for adaptive management and empowerment of small-scale fish producers in the blue economy. The emerging aspect of my work is leveraging the power of big data and artificial intelligence to reveal patterns and anomalies in the contribution of small-scale fish production to livelihoods.
